  1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on state buildings and grounds.
  2. Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of buildings and grounds are maintained to high standards.
  3. Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify any issues or areas in need of attention.
  4. Complete tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and watering to maintain the appearance of state grounds.
  5. Operate and maintain equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and other tools necessary for building and grounds maintenance.
  6. Assist with snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
  7. Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing tasks to ensure a safe working environment.
  8. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  9. Communicate any maintenance or repair needs to supervisors in a timely manner.
  10. Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  11. Adhere to state and federal regulations and guidelines regarding building and grounds maintenance.
  12. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and reliability by consistently showing up on time and completing tasks on schedule.
  13. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures for building and grounds maintenance.
  14. Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong customer service skills when interacting with colleagues and the public.

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Building/Grounds Laborer At The State Of Illinois Is A High School Diploma Or Ged. This Ensures A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Safety Protocols And Procedures.

  • Physical Fitness And Strength: The Job Of A Building/Grounds Laborer Requires Physical Labor And The Ability To Lift Heavy Objects, Operate Machinery, And Perform Manual Tasks. Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Meet The Physical Demands Of The Job.
