The State of Illinois is seeking an experienced Associate Counsel to join our dynamic team as we navigate the complex world of property tax policy and litigation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the citizens of Illinois by providing legal advice and representation in matters related to property tax laws and regulations. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a strong understanding of property tax laws and litigation strategies.   1. Provide legal advice and representation to the State of Illinois in property tax policy and litigation matters.
  2. Conduct thorough research and analysis of property tax laws and regulations to inform legal strategies.
  3. Prepare legal documents, including briefs, motions, and other pleadings.
  4. Represent the State in court proceedings related to property tax disputes and litigation.
  5. Collaborate with other attorneys and government agencies to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
  6. Stay updated on changes in property tax laws and regulations and advise on potential impacts to the State.
  7. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders in a professional and effective manner.
  8. Maintain accurate and organized records of all legal activities and case information.
  9. Attend meetings, hearings, and other events related to property tax matters on behalf of the State.
  10. Demonstrate a strong understanding of ethical and professional standards in the practice of law.
  11. Provide guidance and support to junior attorneys and legal staff as needed.
  12. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance legal knowledge and skills.
  13. Proactively identify potential legal issues and offer solutions and recommendations to mitigate risk.
  14. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to develop and implement policies and procedures related to property tax laws.
  15. Uphold the mission and values of the State of Illinois in all legal activities.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School.

  • Active Membership In Good Standing With The Illinois State Bar Association.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Property Tax Policy And/Or Litigation.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of State And Local Property Tax Laws, Regulations, And Procedures.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Interpret And Apply Complex Legal Concepts And Principles.
