Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations? Do you have experience working in a fast-paced office environment? If so, the State of Hawaii is seeking a Tax Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and processing of tax forms, maintaining accurate records, and providing support to taxpayers. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.   1. Assist with the preparation and processing of tax forms: The Tax Clerk will be responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing and processing various tax forms, including but not limited to income tax, sales tax, and property tax forms.
  2. Maintain accurate records: The Tax Clerk will be responsible for maintaining organized and up-to-date records of all tax forms, payments, and correspondence. This includes inputting data into computer systems, filing physical copies of forms, and ensuring all records are accurate and complete.
  3. Provide support to taxpayers: The Tax Clerk will serve as a point of contact for taxpayers, providing assistance and guidance on tax-related inquiries. This may include answering phone calls, responding to emails, and providing information on tax laws and regulations.
  4. Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations: The Tax Clerk will be responsible for staying up-to-date on all relevant tax laws and regulations and ensuring that all tax forms and processes are in compliance.
  5. Work in a fast-paced office environment: The Tax Clerk will be expected to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced office environment, meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  6. Demonstrate a strong work ethic: The Tax Clerk will be expected to have a strong work ethic and take pride in their work. This includes being reliable, punctual, and willing to take on additional tasks as needed.
  7. Possess excellent organizational skills: The Tax Clerk must have excellent organizational skills to manage and maintain accurate records, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  8. Work well under pressure: The Tax Clerk will need to be able to work well under pressure, especially during tax season when there may be a high volume of work and tight deadlines.
  9. Collaborate with team members: The Tax Clerk will work closely with other team members, including tax professionals and administrative staff, to ensure efficient and accurate processing of tax forms and to provide support to taxpayers.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Or A Related Field.

  • Experience In Tax Preparation Or Accounting, Preferably In A Government Setting.
