- Conduct regular inspections of commercial and residential properties to identify potential cross connections and ensure compliance with backflow prevention regulations.
- Install, repair, and maintain backflow prevention devices to prevent contamination of the drinking water supply.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with backflow prevention devices and plumbing systems.
- Communicate effectively with property owners, contractors, and other stakeholders to educate them on the importance of backflow prevention and promote compliance.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, installations, and repairs, and submit reports to relevant authorities.
- Stay updated on local, state, and federal regulations related to cross connection control and incorporate them into daily work.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to develop and implement cross connection control programs and initiatives.
- Conduct training and educational sessions for colleagues and community members on backflow prevention and water quality.
- Respond to emergency situations involving backflow or contamination of the drinking water supply.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
Certification: A State Of Hawaii Issued Cross Connection Control Technician Certification Is Required For This Position. The Candidate Must Have Completed An Approved Cross Connection Control Program And Passed A Written Examination To Obtain This Certification.
Knowledge Of State Regulations: The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of The State Of Hawaii's Regulations And Guidelines For Cross Connection Control, As Well As Any Updates Or Changes To These Regulations.
Experience: A Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience Working As A Cross Connection Control Technician Is Required For This Position. This Experience Should Include Conducting Inspections, Testing Backflow Prevention Devices, And Maintaining Accurate Records.
Technical Skills: The Candidate Should Possess Strong Technical Skills, Including The Ability To Read And Interpret Blueprints, Schematics, And Technical Manuals. Knowledge Of Plumbing Systems And Backflow Prevention Devices Is Also Necessary.
Communication Skills: This Position Requires Frequent Interaction With Customers, Contractors, And Other Government Agencies. The Candidate Must Have Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, To Effectively Communicate Cross Connection Control Requirements And Findings To Various Stakeholders.
