We are looking for someone who is highly skilled in orientation and mobility techniques, has strong communication and interpersonal skills, and is committed to promoting inclusivity and independence for individuals with visual impairments.   1. Teach essential orientation and mobility skills to individuals with visual impairments.
  2. Develop and implement individualized instruction plans for each student.
  3. Utilize a variety of techniques and resources to improve orientation and mobility skills.
  4. Conduct assessments to evaluate students' progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  5. Collaborate with other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to instruction.
  6. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students to learn and grow.
  7. Communicate effectively with students, their families, and other team members.
  8. Stay up-to-date with advancements and best practices in the field of orientation and mobility.
  9. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions and instruction.
  10. Promote independence, self-advocacy, and self-determination for individuals with visual impairments.
  11. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans.
  12. Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and instructional activities.
  13. Support and advocate for individuals with visual impairments to access equal opportunities.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  15. Serve as a positive role model for students and promote a positive attitude towards disabilities.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Orientation And Mobility, Special Education, Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Specialist In Orientation And Mobility (Coms) Through The Academy For Certification Of Vision Rehabilitation And Education Professionals (Acvrep).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Individuals With Visual Impairments, Preferably In A School Or Rehabilitation Setting.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws Related To Special Education And Accommodations For Individuals With Disabilities.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Students, Families, And Other Professionals.
