As a coordinator, you will play a key part in managing the process of obtaining and maintaining access permits while also ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations.   1. Process and review highway access permit applications in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all permit applications and approvals.
  3. Communicate with citizens, businesses, and other agencies to provide information and guidance on highway access permit requirements and processes.
  4. Collaborate with other departments within the Department of Transportation to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.
  5. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess potential impacts on highway safety and make recommendations for permit approvals.
  6. Monitor and track permit expirations and facilitate the renewal process as needed.
  7. Identify and resolve any issues or concerns related to highway access permits.
  8. Stay up-to-date on transportation policies and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent application of regulations.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders involved in the highway access permit process.
  10. Proactively identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for process enhancements.
  11. Maintain a strong understanding of the state's highway system and potential impacts of access permits on traffic flow and safety.
  12. Assist in developing and implementing training programs for new employees and stakeholders on highway access permit processes.
  13. Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to ensure coordination and consistency in highway access permit processes.
  14. Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  15. Participate in departmental meetings and provide updates on highway access permit processes and developments.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 3 Years Of Experience In A Transportation Agency, Preferably With Experience In Permitting Processes.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Federal And State Laws And Regulations Related To Highway Access Permits.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With A Variety Of Stakeholders Including Government Officials, Engineers, And Contractors.

  • Detail-Oriented And Highly Organized, With The Ability To Manage A High Volume Of Permit Applications And Ensure Compliance With All Requirements.
