  1. Maintain the safety and security of the state's correctional facilities.
  2. Supervise and manage inmates, enforcing rules and regulations.
  3. Promote rehabilitation and reintegration efforts for inmates.
  4. Monitor and report any suspicious or illegal activities among inmates.
  5. Conduct searches and inspections of inmates and their living areas.
  6. Respond to emergencies and maintain order among inmates.
  7. Communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and outside agencies.
  8. Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  9. Attend and participate in trainings and meetings as required.
  10. Work collaboratively with other correctional officers and staff to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
  11. Remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
  12. Follow all state and facility policies and procedures.
  13. Continuously monitor and assess the physical and mental well-being of inmates.
  14. Provide guidance and support to inmates as needed.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth and development.
  16. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
  17. Uphold and promote the mission and values of the State of Colorado.
  18. Stay up to date on changes in policies, procedures, and laws related to corrections.
  19. Serve as a positive role model for inmates and fellow staff members.
  20. Represent the State of Colorado in a professional and respectful manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Ged: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Correctional Officer At The State Of Colorado Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Shows A Basic Level Of Education And Ability To Comprehend And Follow Instructions.
