
DOC CORRECTIONAL SERGEANT

- Ensure the safety and security of correctional facilities by overseeing the daily operations and enforcing rules and regulations.
- Supervise and manage a team of correctional officers, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Monitor and maintain custody and control of inmates, including conducting regular counts and inspections.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, making critical decisions to maintain order and safety.
- Conduct investigations and write reports on incidents, accidents, and rule violations.
- Communicate effectively with staff, inmates, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve conflicts.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for staff, promoting a positive work environment and encouraging professional growth.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to correctional officers.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inmate activities, staff schedules, and incidents.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required to stay updated on industry best practices.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies, such as medical and mental health services, to provide coordinated care for inmates.
- Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor at all times, representing the department with integrity and respect.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Supervisory Experience In A Correctional Setting.
Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice Or A Related Field.
Extensive Knowledge Of The Laws, Rules, And Regulations Governing Correctional Facilities.
Ability To Make Sound Decisions And Handle Stressful Situations.
