  1. Monitor and supervise inmates in a correctional facility to ensure the safety and security of all individuals involved.
  2. Maintain order and discipline among inmates through effective communication and following established protocols and procedures.
  3. Conduct regular inspections and searches of inmates, their living quarters, and common areas to prevent the possession of contraband and maintain a safe environment.
  4. Enforce rules, regulations, and laws within the facility to promote a positive and rehabilitative environment for inmates.
  5. Respond to emergency situations, such as fights or medical emergencies, in a timely and professional manner.
  6. Complete accurate and detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and any other necessary documentation.
  7. Build and maintain positive relationships with inmates to promote trust and open communication.
  8. Collaborate with other correctional staff, such as counselors and medical personnel, to provide comprehensive and effective care for inmates.
  9. Attend and participate in training and development programs to continually improve skills and knowledge.
  10. Uphold ethical standards and demonstrate integrity in all interactions with inmates, staff, and the public.
  11. Act as a role model for inmates by demonstrating positive behavior and promoting pro-social attitudes.
  12. Adhere to all safety and security protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  13. Continuously monitor the behavior and mental well-being of inmates and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  14. Represent the correctional facility and the State of Arkansas in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  15. Embrace and support the mission of the Department of Corrections to create a safer community through effective rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Doc Correctional Officer I Job At State Of Arkansas Is A High School Diploma Or Ged. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Correctional Officer.

  • Completion Of A Training Program: Candidates Must Have Completed A State-Approved Training Program For Correctional Officers. This May Include Courses On Security Procedures, Inmate Management, And Crisis Intervention.

  • Physical Fitness: Working As A Correctional Officer Requires Physical Strength And Endurance. Candidates Must Meet The Physical Fitness Requirements Set By The State Of Arkansas, Which May Include A Physical Fitness Test And Medical Examination.
