Job Description

At Sonoco, we are looking for a top-notch Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of payroll systems and procedures, as well as a dedication to accuracy and precision in their work. We are seeking an individual who is both organized and detail-oriented, someone who enjoys working within a team and is passionate about providing exceptional customer service.To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a payroll-related role; demonstrated competency in the areas of payroll processing, payroll tax filing, and payroll accounting; and a high degree of proficiency in payroll software and MS Office applications. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred but not required. Additionally, the candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  1. Process payroll accurately and efficiently for all employees.
  2. Prepare and submit payroll tax filings in a timely manner.
  3. Maintain updated knowledge of payroll regulations and guidelines.
  4. Monitor and reconcile payroll accounts.
  5. Respond to employee inquiries and resolve any payroll-related issues.
  6. Enter payroll data into payroll system.
  7. Create and maintain employee payroll records.
  8. Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures.
  9. Analyze and reconcile payroll reports.
  10. Maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
