Job Description

The National Purchasing Manager (NPM) is responsible for purchasing / procurement of direct construction costs associated with vertical contracts for work constructed in the team member’s defined region. The NPM is responsible for supervising direct report(s), coordinating/planning team work flow and team member work quality, accuracy and timeliness. Prepare the proforma direct construction cost estimates. Prepare the Pre-bid line item budget estimate and update bid analysis sheets for comparison to actual bids. Spread and compare bids for the cost of base house and optional offerings. Identify and resolve bid discrepancies with each bidder. Review and consider proposed substitutions. Identify lowest qualified bidder and compare to line item budget estimate.

Job Qualifications

Ability to manage competing priorities and assignments
Five years experience in the homebuilding industry
Three years experience in residential purchasing
Previous experience in a continuous improvement environment
Understanding of basic measurement and team tools and continuous process improvement methodology and practices
Field construction experience a plus
