  1. Lead and drive the scientific strategy for the development of ophthalmology drugs at Sanofi.
  2. Utilize deep understanding of ophthalmology drug development to guide and inform decision making.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and external partners to advance the ophthalmology pipeline.
  4. Act as a subject matter expert and provide scientific support to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  5. Stay current on industry trends, advancements, and competitive landscape in ophthalmology drug development.
  6. Collaborate with internal teams to identify and evaluate potential new therapies and technologies.
  7. Lead and oversee the design, execution, and interpretation of preclinical and clinical studies.
  8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and guidelines.
  9. Manage and mentor a team of scientists and researchers to support the development of ophthalmology drugs.
  10. Communicate and present scientific data and findings to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory agencies.
  11. Work closely with other departments, including medical affairs and commercial teams, to ensure alignment and coordination on development strategies.
  12. Identify and manage risks and challenges in the development process, and develop mitigation plans.
  13. Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  14. Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives.
  15. Represent Sanofi at scientific conferences, symposiums, and other industry events.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Ophthalmology: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Phd Or Md In Ophthalmology, With A Strong Background In Research And Development In The Field.

  • Experience In Drug Development: The Development Scientific Director Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Drug Development, Preferably Within The Ophthalmology Industry. This Includes Experience In Designing And Executing Clinical Trials, As Well As Obtaining Regulatory Approvals.

  • Leadership Skills: This Role Requires Strong Leadership Skills, As The Development Scientific Director Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Researchers And Scientists. The Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing And Motivating A Team Towards Achieving Common Goals.

  • Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Regulatory Requirements For Ophthalmology Drugs, Including Fda And Ema Guidelines. This Includes Experience In Preparing And Submitting Regulatory Documents Such As Inds And Blas.

  • Strategic Thinking: The Development Scientific Director Should Possess Strong Strategic Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Identify Opportunities And Challenges In The Ophthalmology Market And Develop Strategies To Address Them. This Includes Experience In Market Analysis And Competitive Intelligence.
