Job Description

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an experienced and motivated Materials Science Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position will provide a unique opportunity to work with a highly collaborative and diverse group of scientists and engineers in a mission-focused environment. We are looking for an individual with a passion for developing new materials and a strong background in material science and engineering.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or related discipline and at least 3+ years of experience in materials engineering and development. The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of materials properties, physics, chemistry, and engineering principles. In addition, the candidate should have experience with characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and thermal analysis. The candidate should also have experience with the design of experiments and data analysis. Finally, the successful candidate must have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop new materials and products utilizing material science and engineering principles.
  2. Utilize characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and thermal analysis.
  3. Design experiments and analyze data.
  4. Collaborate with a diverse group of scientists and engineers in a mission-focused environment.
  5. Communicate effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  6. Stay up to date on recent developments in materials science and engineering.
  7. Maintain a safe work environment.
