Job Description

San Juan Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Patient Safety Coordinator to join our Quality & Patient Safety Department. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the patient safety activities throughout the medical center, with the goal of promoting a safe and secure environment for our patients, staff and visitors.The successful candidate will possess a proactive approach to patient safety and a commitment to quality assurance and improvement. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a patient safety or quality assurance role. A Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred, although experience can be substituted for a degree. Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee patient safety activities throughout the medical center to promote a safe and secure environment for all patients, staff, and visitors.
  2. Develop and implement quality assurance and improvement strategies to ensure a high level of patient safety.
  3. Analyze patient safety data and develop action plans to address identified risks.
  4. Collaborate with clinical and administrative personnel to ensure that patient safety initiatives are implemented effectively.
  5. Provide education and training to staff on patient safety topics.
  6. Monitor compliance with patient safety regulations and standards.
  7. Develop and maintain patient safety policies and procedures.
  8. Participate in safety committees and meetings as required.
  9. Maintain records of incidents and report data to appropriate personnel.
  10. Investigate patient safety incidents and complaints.
  11. Respond to questions and concerns related to patient safety.
  12. Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish is a plus.
