  1. Provide compassionate and personalized care to expectant mothers and their families.
  2. Promote and support natural childbirth and advocate for the mother's preferences and needs.
  3. Conduct thorough prenatal assessments and monitor the health of both the mother and baby throughout pregnancy.
  4. Educate and counsel expectant mothers on prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care.
  5. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  6. Perform deliveries and provide postpartum care to mothers and newborns.
  7. Provide support and guidance to new mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and family planning.
  8. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation.
  9. Stay current with advancements and best practices in midwifery and women's health.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the department.
  11. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in working with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  12. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  14. Uphold the mission, values, and standards of Salem Health.

Job Qualifications
  • Graduation From An Accredited Nurse Midwifery Program: Candidates For A Certified Nurse Midwife Job At Salem Health Must Have Completed A Graduate Degree In Nurse Midwifery From An Accredited Institution.

  • Active Nurse Midwifery License In The State Of Oregon: Candidates Must Hold A Current And Valid Nurse Midwifery License In The State Of Oregon, Or Be Able To Obtain One Before Beginning Employment.

  • Experience In Pregnancy, Childbirth, And Postpartum Care: Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience Providing Comprehensive Care To Women Throughout The Pregnancy, Childbirth, And Postpartum Periods.

  • Certification By The American Midwifery Certification Board (Amcb): Candidates Must Be Certified By The Amcb As A Certified Nurse Midwife, Or Be Able To Obtain Certification Within Six Months Of Employment.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Role Of A Certified Nurse Midwife Requires Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, As They Will Be Interacting With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. Candidates Should Possess These Skills And Be Able To Demonstrate Them In A Clinical Setting.
