
Surgical Navigation Technician

- Operate and maintain surgical navigation equipment to assist surgeons in performing procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and set up navigation systems, including calibrating instruments and ensuring proper functionality.
- Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to plan and execute surgical procedures.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during surgeries to ensure seamless use of navigation systems.
- Monitor and record patient data during procedures, including navigation system readings and vital signs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all procedures and patient data.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure a safe and sterile environment.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in surgical navigation technology and attend training sessions as required.
- Assist in training and educating new staff and surgeons on the use of surgical navigation equipment.
- Maintain inventory and order necessary supplies for the surgical navigation department.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with patients, staff, and surgeons.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet the demands of a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Demonstrate commitment to quality patient care and customer service by providing compassionate and respectful care to all patients.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines, at all times.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the surgical navigation department.
Certification: A Surgical Navigation Technician At Saint Francis Health System Must Hold A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa) Or The National Center For Competency Testing (Ncct). This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Education And Training Requirements To Perform The Role Effectively.
Previous Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Surgical Technician Is Required For This Position. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Working In A Fast-Paced Surgical Environment And Be Familiar With Various Surgical Procedures And Equipment.
Proficiency In Surgical Navigation Systems: The Candidate Must Possess Strong Technical Skills And Be Proficient In Operating Surgical Navigation Systems, Such As Computer-Assisted Surgical Navigation (Cas) And Image-Guided Surgery (Igs) Systems. This Includes Knowledge Of 3D Imaging, Navigation Software, And Instrument Tracking Systems.
Attention To Detail: Surgical Navigation Requires Precise And Accurate Placement Of Instruments And Implants. Therefore, A Surgical Navigation Technician Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Follow Instructions Meticulously To Ensure The Success Of The Surgical Procedure.
Team Player: The Role Of A Surgical Navigation Technician Involves Working Closely With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Members Of The Surgical Team. The Candidate Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Collaborate Effectively With The Team And Provide Exceptional Patient Care.
