- Greet and welcome patients with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Explain the phlebotomy process to patients and address any questions or concerns they may have.
- Verify patient information and ensure accuracy in all documentation.
- Prepare and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies.
- Properly and safely collect blood samples from patients.
- Label, document and transport blood samples to the laboratory for testing.
- Ensure proper patient identification and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Follow strict safety protocols and procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient and employee safety.
- Keep accurate records of all phlebotomy procedures and patient results.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or concerns related to phlebotomy procedures or equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare team members, and laboratory staff.
- Stay up-to-date with industry changes, new techniques, and technology in phlebotomy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service and patient care at all times.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
Certification: The Candidate Must Possess A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomist From A Recognized Accrediting Agency Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Education: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged Is Required, With Additional Training In Phlebotomy Techniques And Procedures From An Accredited Program.
Experience: At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Clinical Or Hospital Setting Is Preferred. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Standard Operating Procedures.
Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential For A Phlebotomist To Effectively Interact With Patients, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals. The Candidate Should Possess Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills.
Attention To Detail: Precision And Accuracy Are Crucial In The Field Of Phlebotomy. The Candidate Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Follow Procedures And Protocols Accurately To Ensure The Integrity Of Blood Samples And Patient Safety.
