Job Description

In this role, you will play a vital part in the treatment and management of patients with cancer, providing support and comfort during their infusion therapy.   1. Administer infusion therapy to patients with cancer, following all safety protocols and medication administration guidelines.
  2. Monitor patients before, during, and after infusion therapy, assessing for any adverse reactions or complications and promptly reporting them to the healthcare team.
  3. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans for patients with cancer and regularly update them based on patient progress.
  4. Educate patients and their families on the infusion therapy process, potential side effects, and self-care measures to manage symptoms at home.
  5. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients during their infusion therapy, creating a safe and compassionate environment for their treatment.
  6. Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic medical records system, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  7. Maintain and stock necessary supplies and equipment for infusion therapy procedures, ensuring their proper functioning and alerting the appropriate personnel for any maintenance or repairs.
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure a seamless patient experience throughout the cancer treatment process.
  9. Participate in departmental and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
  10. Stay updated on current trends and advancements in oncology nursing, attending educational seminars and conferences to continuously improve knowledge and skills.

Job Qualifications
  • Current Lpn License In The State Of Oklahoma: The Candidate Must Possess A Valid And Current Lpn License In The State Of Oklahoma, Ensuring That They Are Legally Allowed To Practice As A Nurse In The State.

  • Oncology Nursing Certification (Ocn): A Certification In Oncology Nursing Demonstrates A Specialized Knowledge And Skillset In Caring For Cancer Patients, Which Is Essential For An Lpn Working In A Cancer Center Infusion Setting.

  • Experience In Oncology Nursing: Previous Experience Working As An Lpn In An Oncology Setting Is Highly Desirable For This Position. It Shows That The Candidate Has A Strong Understanding Of Cancer Care And Is Comfortable Working With Cancer Patients.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As An Lpn In A Cancer Center Infusion Role, The Candidate Will Be Interacting With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Team Members On A Daily Basis. Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For Providing Quality Care And Building Relationships With Patients And Colleagues.

  • Ability To Multitask And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Cancer Center Infusion Units Can Be Fast-Paced And Demanding, Requiring The Lpn To Handle Multiple Tasks And Patients Simultaneously. The Candidate Should Possess Strong Time-Management And Organizational Skills To Be Successful In This Role.
