Job Description

The Histology Technician position at Saint Francis Health System is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, detail-oriented professional to join our team. We are looking for a dedicated individual with a passion for precision and accuracy to assist in our histology laboratory. The successful candidate should possess strong technical skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaborate with other departments. To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a minimum of an Associate degree in Histology or a related field and at least two years of histology laboratory experience. This position is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a team of dedicated and talented professionals.

Responsibilities of the Histology Technician:

  1. Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination using histological techniques, such as tissue fixation, embedding, sectioning, staining, and coverslipping.
  2. Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  3. Assist in the development of new histological techniques and protocols.
  4. Ensure accurate and timely completion of required laboratory reports.
  5. Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities and results.
  6. Monitor laboratory supplies and recommend reorder when necessary.
  7. Collaborate with other departments and disciplines to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  8. Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols.
  9. Participate in continuing education and training programs to maintain current knowledge of best practices in histology.
