  1. Conducting Histology Procedures: The Histology Assistant will be responsible for performing various histology procedures, such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting, according to established protocols and quality standards.
  2. Maintaining Laboratory Equipment: It is the responsibility of the Histology Assistant to ensure that all laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition. This includes performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and reporting any malfunctions.
  3. Preparing Specimens: The Histology Assistant will be responsible for receiving, accessioning, and labeling tissue specimens accurately and efficiently. They will also be responsible for preparing slides for examination by a pathologist.
  4. Quality Control: The Histology Assistant will be responsible for conducting quality control checks on all histology procedures and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  5. Record-Keeping: The Histology Assistant will maintain accurate records of all specimens, tests, and procedures performed, including patient information, test results, and quality control data.

Job Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree In Histotechnology Or A Related Field

  • Certification As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl) Through The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp)

  • Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience Working In A Histology Laboratory Setting

  • Knowledge Of Histology Laboratory Procedures And Equipment, Including Tissue Processing, Embedding, Sectioning, Staining, And Microscopy

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Accurately Record And Maintain Data And Records In A Laboratory Information System (Lis)
