
Child Life Specialist: Pediatric Oncology

- Provide emotional and psychosocial support to pediatric oncology patients and their families.
- Utilize knowledge of child development to create a supportive and engaging environment for young patients.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible care for patients from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
- Conduct educational sessions for parents and caregivers to help them understand and cope with their child's cancer diagnosis.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and interventions to help children cope with the challenges of cancer treatment.
- Advocate for the unique needs of pediatric oncology patients and their families within the healthcare system.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest research and techniques in child life and pediatric oncology to provide the best care for patients.
- Document and maintain accurate records of patient interactions and progress.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and therapists, to provide coordinated care for patients.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and their families, providing support and resources as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Serve as a source of support and guidance for families during difficult and emotional situations.
- Maintain a positive and compassionate attitude at all times, serving as a role model for children and families.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make necessary adjustments to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
Bachelor's Degree In Child Development, Child Life, Or Related Field.
Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Pediatric Oncology Patients And Their Families.
Strong Understanding Of Child Development And Coping Mechanisms For Children Facing Medical Challenges.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Interdisciplinary Teams And Provide Emotional Support To Families.
