  1. Facilitate learning: The primary responsibility of a teaching assistant is to assist in the facilitation of student learning by supporting the classroom teacher and providing additional guidance and resources to students.
  2. Grade assignments and exams: Teaching assistants may be responsible for grading assignments and exams, providing feedback to students, and maintaining accurate records of student progress.
  3. Conduct small group sessions: Teaching assistants may lead small group discussions or sessions to supplement classroom instruction and provide additional support to students.
  4. Assist in lesson planning: Teaching assistants may assist in creating lesson plans and developing instructional materials to enhance the learning experience for students.
  5. Provide one-on-one support: Teaching assistants may work with individual students who need extra help with course material, providing one-on-one support and tutoring.
  6. Monitor student progress: It is the responsibility of teaching assistants to monitor student progress and identify any challenges or areas where students may need additional support.
  7. Collaborate with faculty: Teaching assistants must work closely with the classroom teacher to understand the curriculum, provide support, and ensure consistency in instruction.
  8. Attend training and meetings: Teaching assistants may be required to attend training sessions and team meetings to stay updated on curriculum changes and teaching strategies.
  9. Maintain classroom organization: Teaching assistants may be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment, including setting up and organizing materials for lessons.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field: A Teaching Assistant At Rutgers University Should Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Education, Psychology, Or A Specific Subject Area.

  • Experience Working With Diverse Populations: Rutgers University Prides Itself On Its Diverse Student Population. A Teaching Assistant Should Have Experience Working With Students From Different Backgrounds And Cultures.
