- Develop and teach curriculum for dance courses at the undergraduate level, ensuring alignment with the mission and goals of the Department of Dance and the Mason Gross School of the Arts.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore and develop their skills and artistic vision.
- Plan and lead dance classes, rehearsals, and performances, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and techniques to engage and challenge students.
- Provide individualized feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their technical proficiency, artistic expression, and critical thinking skills.
- Stay current with developments in the field of dance and incorporate new techniques and trends into the curriculum.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to develop interdisciplinary projects and performances that enhance the students' education and showcase their talents.
- Participate in faculty meetings, department events, and other professional development opportunities to contribute to the growth and advancement of the Department of Dance.
- Act as an advocate and mentor for students, providing support and guidance in their academic and artistic pursuits.
- Engage in scholarly and/or creative activities, such as research, choreography, or performances, to maintain professional expertise and contribute to the visibility of the Department of Dance.
- Foster relationships with the local and national dance communities to create opportunities for students and promote the reputation of the Department of Dance.
- Adhere to university policies and procedures, including grading and attendance requirements, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Represent the Department of Dance and Rutgers University in a professional manner at all times.
Extensive Experience In Dance: Candidates For This Position Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In The Field Of Dance, With A Strong Background In Various Dance Techniques, Styles And Genres.
Teaching Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Teaching Dance At A Collegiate Level, With A Proven Track Record Of Effectively Communicating And Engaging With Students Of Diverse Backgrounds.
Advanced Degree In Dance: A Master's Or Doctorate Degree In Dance Or A Related Field Is Preferred For This Position. Candidates With A Degree In A Related Field Must Have Significant Experience And Expertise In The Field Of Dance.
Strong Choreography And Performance Skills: The Candidate Should Have An Impressive Portfolio Of Original Choreography And Performance Experience, As Well As A Strong Understanding Of The Creative Process And The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Teach It.
