  1. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, and HVAC systems to ensure the safety and functionality of university housing facilities.
  2. Conduct regular inspections of housing facilities to identify and address any potential maintenance issues.
  3. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from students and staff, and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
  4. Keep accurate records of maintenance work, including completed tasks, materials used, and time spent, and report any major repairs or replacements needed to the appropriate supervisor.
  5. Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to complete larger projects and ensure timely completion.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage and disposal of tools and materials.
  7. Monitor inventory levels and order necessary supplies and equipment to ensure that maintenance tasks can be completed efficiently.
  8. Continuously evaluate and make recommendations for improving maintenance processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  9. Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols when performing maintenance tasks, and report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  10. Provide excellent customer service to students and staff, addressing any concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  11. Stay updated on industry best practices and new technologies in maintenance to ensure the most effective and efficient methods are being used.
  12. Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours emergency maintenance requests.
  13. Represent Rutgers University in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Requirement For A Maintenance Mechanic-Housing Job At Rutgers University Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Can Perform Essential Job Functions Such As Reading And Understanding Safety Manuals And Operating Equipment.

  • Technical Training Or Certification: Candidates With Technical Training Or Certification In Areas Such As Hvac, Plumbing, Electrical, Or Carpentry Will Be Highly Preferred For This Role.
