  1. Manage and maintain the soils and plants laboratory, including equipment, supplies, and inventory.
  2. Conduct research experiments and collect data related to soil and plant studies.
  3. Assist faculty and students in conducting laboratory and field research, including providing guidance and training on proper techniques and procedures.
  4. Monitor and analyze soil and plant samples using various techniques and equipment.
  5. Maintain accurate records and documentation of research findings and experiments.
  6. Collaborate with other department members to plan and execute projects and experiments.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current research and industry developments in the fields of agriculture, horticulture, and environmental science.
  8. Communicate research findings and results to faculty, students, and other interested parties.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to the soil and plant laboratory.
  10. Oversee and train any support staff or student workers in the laboratory.
  11. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations in all laboratory activities.
  12. Participate in department meetings and contribute ideas for the improvement of research and educational programs.
  13. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reports related to soil and plant research.
  14. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory space.
  15. Attend conferences and workshops to further knowledge and skills in the field of soil and plant research.
  16. Represent Rutgers University and the soils and plant department at professional events and conferences.
  17. Continuously evaluate and make recommendations for improving laboratory processes and procedures.
  18. Provide support to faculty and students in the development and implementation of new research projects.
  19. Act as a resource for students seeking guidance and advice on soil and plant research projects.
  20. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the laboratory and department.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Soil Science, Horticulture, Botany, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In A Supervisory Or Leadership Role In A Plant Or Soil Laboratory Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Plant And Soil Analysis Techniques, Including Nutrient Analysis, Ph Testing, And Soil Texture Analysis.

  • Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage A Team And Collaborate With Other Departments.

  • Proficiency In Laboratory Software And Equipment, As Well As Experience With Data Analysis And Reporting.
