  1. Assist the Executive Chef in managing and overseeing the culinary operations on board the cruise ship.
  2. Create and develop creative and innovative menus that will impress and satisfy guests from all over the world.
  3. Train, supervise, and mentor a team of chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff to ensure high quality and efficient food production.
  4. Monitor and maintain food quality, presentation, and consistency in accordance with company standards.
  5. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  6. Work closely with the Executive Chef to manage food inventory, control costs, and maintain budget.
  7. Collaborate with other departments such as dining services and purchasing to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
  8. Continuously research and stay updated on culinary trends, techniques, and ingredients to enhance menu offerings.
  9. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among team members.
  10. Represent the company and its brand by providing exceptional service and creating memorable dining experiences for guests.
  11. Adapt to and work effectively in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  12. Adhere to company policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  13. Attend meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or management.

Job Qualifications
  • Culinary Degree Or Equivalent Experience: The Ideal Candidate For A Sous Chef Position At Royal Caribbean Cruises Should Have A Degree In Culinary Arts Or A Related Field. Alternatively, Extensive Experience In A High-Volume Kitchen Environment May Also Be Considered.

  • Previous Supervisory Experience: The Sous Chef Will Be Responsible For Managing And Leading A Team Of Cooks And Other Kitchen Staff. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Previous Experience In A Supervisory Role, Preferably In A Large Kitchen Setting.

  • Strong Culinary Skills: As A Sous Chef, You Will Be Responsible For Overseeing The Preparation And Execution Of All Meals On The Cruise Ship. Therefore, Strong Culinary Skills And Knowledge Of Various Cooking Techniques And Cuisines Are Essential.

  • Effective Communication Skills: The Sous Chef Will Need To Communicate Effectively With Both Kitchen Staff And Other Departments On The Cruise Ship. This Includes Providing Clear Instructions, Giving Feedback, And Collaborating With Other Team Members.

  • Flexibility And Adaptability: Working On A Cruise Ship Can Be Fast-Paced And Unpredictable. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Adapt To Changing Situations, Work Well Under Pressure, And Be Able To Handle A Variety Of Tasks And Responsibilities.
