
Safety Officer

- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols set by regulatory bodies, such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the ship, including all public areas, crew spaces, and machinery spaces.
- Monitor and assess potential safety hazards and risks, and implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures that are in line with industry best practices and company standards.
- Conduct safety training and drills for all crew members, including emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.
- Investigate any safety-related incidents or accidents and provide detailed reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Keep up-to-date with new safety regulations and technologies and implement them accordingly.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as the Security and Medical teams, to ensure a comprehensive approach to safety and security on board.
- Maintain all safety-related documentation and records, including training records, inspection reports, and incident reports.
- Communicate safety information and procedures to passengers during safety briefings and throughout their journey.
- Monitor and manage the ship's safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, lifeboats, and personal protective equipment, to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Act as a safety resource for all crew members and passengers, addressing any safety concerns or questions that may arise.
- Conduct regular safety meetings with department heads and make recommendations for improvements based on identified safety issues.
- Act as the point of contact for any safety-related inquiries or concerns from regulatory bodies or external agencies.
- Uphold and promote a safety culture on board, encouraging all crew members to prioritize safety in their daily tasks and responsibilities.
Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Health And Safety Or A Related Field.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Train And Educate Crew Members On Safety Protocols.
At Least 3 Years Of Experience In A Safety Officer Or Related Role, Preferably In The Maritime Industry.
Knowledge Of International Safety Regulations And Standards, Including Solas And Ism Code.
Professional Certification, Such As Certified Safety Professional (Csp) Or Certified Industrial Hygienist (Cih).
