1. Lead the strategic direction and vision for the Center for Research Computing at Rice University.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the research computing resources.
3. Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and other university stakeholders to identify and prioritize research computing needs.
4. Develop and implement plans for the growth and enhancement of research computing resources, including hardware, software, and services.
5. Manage the budget for the Center for Research Computing and ensure efficient use of resources.
6. Build and maintain partnerships and collaborations with external organizations to support research initiatives.
7. Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in research computing and make recommendations for their integration into the university's resources.
8. Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of research computing professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management.
9. Communicate with stakeholders and provide regular updates on the progress and impact of the research computing initiatives.
10. Ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
11. Represent Rice University and the Center for Research Computing at conferences, meetings, and other events.
12. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Center for Research Computing.
13. Develop and maintain relationships with research funding agencies to secure additional resources for the center.
14. Prepare and submit reports on the center's activities, progress, and impact to university leadership.
15. Act as a liaison between the Center for Research Computing and other departments and organizations within the university to promote interdisciplinary research collaborations.
