- Develop and execute creative and high-quality menus that cater to the diverse dietary needs and preferences of the Rice University community.
- Lead and manage a team of cooks and kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Ensure all food preparation and cooking processes adhere to safety and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with the dining services team to plan and execute special events and themed meals.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs to meet budgetary goals.
- Stay updated on food trends, new ingredients, and cooking techniques to continuously improve the dining experience.
- Work closely with local vendors and farmers to source high-quality and fresh ingredients for the menu.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the culinary team.
- Train and educate staff on new menu items, recipes, and cooking techniques.
- Provide exceptional customer service, address any customer concerns or feedback, and continuously strive to exceed expectations in the dining experience.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement policies and procedures related to food quality, safety, and customer service.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including equipment and storage areas.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to food service.
- Participate in menu planning meetings, budget meetings, and other relevant meetings as needed.
- Serve as a role model for the culinary team, promoting a strong work ethic and a passion for creating delicious and memorable meals.
At Least 5 Years Of Experience As A Chef De Cuisine In A High-Volume, Fine Dining Establishment.
Culinary Degree Or Equivalent Training From A Recognized Culinary Institution.
Extensive Knowledge Of Various Cooking Techniques And Cuisines, Including Experience With Asian And Mediterranean Cuisine.
Strong Leadership And Management Skills, With Proven Experience In Managing A Team Of Chefs And Kitchen Staff.
Excellent Time Management And Organization Skills, With The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively In A Fast-Paced Environment.
