Job Description

As the Transit Safety Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our riders, employees, and assets.   1. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  2. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
  3. Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to develop and implement safety training programs for employees.
  4. Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  5. Investigate and report on safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and make recommendations for preventative measures.
  6. Coordinate and conduct safety drills and exercises to ensure preparedness in emergency situations.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in transit safety, and make recommendations for improvements.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
  9. Act as a liaison between the organization and regulatory agencies regarding safety matters.
  10. Collaborate with the communications team to develop and distribute safety-related materials to riders and employees.
  11. Respond to safety concerns and complaints from riders and employees, and take appropriate action to address them.
  12. Facilitate safety meetings and trainings for employees at all levels of the organization.
  13. Conduct thorough investigations of safety-related incidents and provide timely and accurate reports to management.
  14. Develop and maintain safety-related documentation and records.
  15. Assist in the development and management of the safety budget.
  16. Act as a safety advocate and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  17. Stay informed of changes in safety regulations and make necessary updates to organizational policies and procedures.
  18. Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement emergency response plans.
  19. Provide guidance and support to employees on safety-related matters.
  20. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Relevant Experience: A Transit Safety Coordinator Should Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In A Safety-Related Role, Preferably In The Transportation Industry. Previous Experience In A Supervisory Or Managerial Position Is Also Desirable.

  • Knowledge Of Safety Regulations: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Safety Regulations And Guidelines Set By Federal And State Agencies, Such As The Federal Transit Administration (Fta) And The Occupational Safety And Health Administration (Osha).

  • Communication Skills: As A Coordinator, The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, To Effectively Communicate Safety Procedures And Policies To Employees At All Levels Of The Organization.

  • Analytical Thinking: A Transit Safety Coordinator Should Have Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills To Identify Potential Safety Hazards And Develop Effective Solutions To Mitigate Them.

  • Team Player: The Candidate Should Be A Team Player And Have The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Various Departments And Stakeholders To Ensure The Implementation Of Safety Protocols And Procedures Across The Organization.
