
Transit Safety Coordinator

- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to develop and implement safety training programs for employees.
- Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Investigate and report on safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and make recommendations for preventative measures.
- Coordinate and conduct safety drills and exercises to ensure preparedness in emergency situations.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in transit safety, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and regulatory agencies regarding safety matters.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop and distribute safety-related materials to riders and employees.
- Respond to safety concerns and complaints from riders and employees, and take appropriate action to address them.
- Facilitate safety meetings and trainings for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Conduct thorough investigations of safety-related incidents and provide timely and accurate reports to management.
- Develop and maintain safety-related documentation and records.
- Assist in the development and management of the safety budget.
- Act as a safety advocate and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Stay informed of changes in safety regulations and make necessary updates to organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on safety-related matters.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Relevant Experience: A Transit Safety Coordinator Should Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In A Safety-Related Role, Preferably In The Transportation Industry. Previous Experience In A Supervisory Or Managerial Position Is Also Desirable.
Knowledge Of Safety Regulations: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Safety Regulations And Guidelines Set By Federal And State Agencies, Such As The Federal Transit Administration (Fta) And The Occupational Safety And Health Administration (Osha).
Communication Skills: As A Coordinator, The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, To Effectively Communicate Safety Procedures And Policies To Employees At All Levels Of The Organization.
Analytical Thinking: A Transit Safety Coordinator Should Have Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills To Identify Potential Safety Hazards And Develop Effective Solutions To Mitigate Them.
Team Player: The Candidate Should Be A Team Player And Have The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Various Departments And Stakeholders To Ensure The Implementation Of Safety Protocols And Procedures Across The Organization.
