Job Description

The Regional Transportation District is seeking a skilled Dispatcher for our Commuter Rail division. In this role, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and monitoring the movement of trains and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our passengers. To excel in this role, you must have strong communication skills, the ability to think on your feet, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatching or a similar role.   1. Coordinate and monitor the movement of trains to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  2. Communicate effectively with train operators, maintenance personnel, and other dispatchers to maintain smooth operations.
  3. Utilize various communication and tracking systems to monitor train locations and respond to any incidents or delays.
  4. Identify and resolve any potential issues or disruptions in train schedules, and take appropriate action to minimize impact on passengers.
  5. Maintain accurate records and logs of train movements, delays, and other relevant information.
  6. Prioritize and respond to emergency situations in a timely and efficient manner.
  7. Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure effective coordination and communication.
  8. Provide excellent customer service to passengers, addressing any inquiries or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  9. Continuously monitor and assess train operations to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  10. Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to ensure the safety of passengers and employees.
  11. Train and mentor new dispatchers to ensure a knowledgeable and skilled team.
  12. Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and developments in public transportation to improve operations and service.
  13. Participate in meetings and discussions to provide input and contribute to decision-making processes.
  14. Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with team members and other departments.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by superiors to support the overall goals and objectives of the Regional Transportation District.
