
Senior Phlebotomist

- Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and arterial puncture, following established protocols and safety measures.
- Accurately label and process collected specimens, ensuring proper identification and handling.
- Verify patient information and obtain necessary consent for blood collection.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including properly disposing of biohazardous materials.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new phlebotomy staff.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety and infection control protocols.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through continuing education and training opportunities.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and visitors, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate collection of specimens.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of phlebotomy procedures and patient information.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or problems that may arise during the phlebotomy process.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Act as a role model for phlebotomy staff, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new phlebotomy procedures and protocols.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for process improvement.
- Serve as a resource for other staff regarding phlebotomy techniques and best practices.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for both staff and patients.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience As A Phlebotomist In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting, With At Least 1 Year In A Senior Or Supervisory Role.
Certification As A Phlebotomist From A Recognized Program Or Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Demonstrated Knowledge Of Current Phlebotomy Techniques, Procedures, And Safety Protocols.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Interact With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Professional And Compassionate Manner.
Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Multitask In A Fast-Paced Environment, With A Focus On Accuracy And Efficiency In Specimen Collection And Processing.
