- Prepare and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently for long-term care patients.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure proper medication administration.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of pharmacy procedures, regulations, and safety protocols to ensure compliance at all times.
- Monitor medication orders for accuracy and completeness, identifying any potential drug interactions or allergies.
- Maintain accurate records of medication inventory and patient profiles.
- Prepare and package medications according to facility and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service to long-term care residents and their families, addressing any questions or concerns about medications.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure timely and efficient delivery of medications to long-term care facilities.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practices to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Complete all required training and stay up-to-date on industry standards and regulations.
- Demonstrate a compassionate and empathetic attitude towards long-term care patients and their unique needs.
- Troubleshoot any issues or concerns related to medication dispensing or administration, escalating to the appropriate parties when necessary.

High School Diploma Or Ged: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Pharmacy Technician Position Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (Cpht): Candidates Should Have A Cpht Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb).
Experience In Long Term Care Pharmacy: Candidates Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Long Term Care Pharmacy Setting, As This Role Will Involve Handling Medication Orders For Patients In Long Term Care Facilities.
Knowledge Of Medication Management Systems: Familiarity With Medication Management Systems, Such As Electronic Health Records And Automated Dispensing Systems, Is Essential For A Pharmacy Technician In A Long Term Care Setting.
Attention To Detail: Accuracy And Attention To Detail Are Critical In This Role, As Pharmacy Technicians Are Responsible For Verifying And Preparing Medication Orders For Multiple Patients. A Strong Eye For Detail Can Help Prevent Medication Errors And Ensure Patient Safety.
