Job Description

Providence St. Patrick Hospital is looking for a Pathology Assistant to join our talented team of healthcare professionals. This individual will perform administrative and clinical duties to support our Pathology department. This individual should possess excellent communication skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, have a high attention to detail, and have strong organizational skills. The successful candidate must have an Associate’s Degree in Pathology Assisting, a valid state license, and certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Previous experience in a pathology laboratory, histology, and/or cytology is highly desirable. Responsibilities:

  1. Process and prepare laboratory specimens for analysis using a variety of techniques
  2. Analyze laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and other body fluids
  3. Maintain laboratory records and document results of tests
  4. Communicate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals regarding results
  5. Perform administrative tasks related to laboratory operations, such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory
  6. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and regulations
  7. Develop and implement quality control and assurance protocols
  8. Participate in the training and evaluation of new employees
  9. Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  10. Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
