- Provide financial counseling services to patients, including reviewing and explaining insurance benefits, payment options, and financial assistance programs.
- Ensure patients have a clear understanding of their financial responsibilities and help them navigate the financial aspects of their healthcare journey.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to resolve any financial issues or concerns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient financial information and communicate updates to relevant parties.
- Educate and train other patient financial counselors on best practices and policies related to patient financial counseling.
- Stay up-to-date on healthcare billing and insurance processes, as well as any changes in policies or regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients and their families, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Advocate for patients and their families, ensuring they receive fair and accurate billing and insurance coverage.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of patient financial counseling services.
- Participate in relevant meetings and trainings to stay informed and contribute to the overall success of the department and hospital.
Bachelor's Degree In Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Patient Financial Counseling, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Insurance Policies And Procedures, Including Medicare And Medicaid.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Financial Information To Patients And Their Families.
Demonstrated Leadership Experience, With The Ability To Manage And Mentor A Team Of Financial Counselors.
