
Laboratory Animal Veterinarian - Facility Manager
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Laboratory Animal Veterinarian - Facility Manager to join the Animal Care and Use Program (ACUP) at Providence St. Patrick Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the ACUP, providing guidance to ensure the humane care and use of animals in research. The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, along with specific experience in laboratory animal medicine and accreditation. The Laboratory Animal Veterinarian - Facility Manager will demonstrate a commitment to animal welfare and the humane use of animals in research. They should also possess strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operations of the Animal Care and Use Program (ACUP) at Providence St. Patrick Hospital, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Provide guidance to ensure the humane care and use of animals in research
• Monitor and evaluate research protocols to ensure humane animal care
• Provide veterinary care and treatment to research animals
• Develop and implement animal husbandry and husbandry protocols
• Monitor animal health and welfare, including responding to requests for veterinary assistance
• Provide training for laboratory personnel on animal care and handling
• Oversee the maintenance of animal facilities and ensure compliance with safety protocols
• Monitor and review the use of anesthetics and analgesics in research animals
• Maintain records and reports on animal care and use
• Develop and implement policies and procedures related to the ACUP
• Collaborate with research personnel to ensure best practices in animal care
• Represent the ACUP in external forums and meetings
• Keep abreast of developments in animal welfare, laboratory animal medicine, and accreditation standards
Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine (Dvm) Degree
Licensed Veterinarian In The State Of Montana
At Least Five Years Of Laboratory Animal Medicine And Management Experience
Board Certification In Laboratory Animal Medicine
Experience In Developing And Implementing Animal Care And Use Protocols
Knowledge Of State And Federal Regulations Pertaining To Animal Research
Ability To Work Collaboratively With Laboratory Personnel And Administrators
