- Prepare blood samples for laboratory testing and ensure they are properly labeled and stored.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to safety protocols.
- Communicate with patients to ensure they are comfortable and informed throughout the blood collection process.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate sample collection.

- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Troubleshoot any issues with sample collection or processing and escalate to the appropriate personnel as needed.
- Stay updated on industry standards and best practices in phlebotomy to continually improve skills and techniques.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and precision of test results.
- Assist with training and mentoring new phlebotomy staff as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service and care to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Follow all policies and procedures of Prisma Health to maintain a safe and professional work environment.
- Complete all necessary documentation and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
Certification In Phlebotomy: The Candidate Should Have A Valid Certification In Phlebotomy From A Recognized Organization, Such As The National Healthcareer Association (Nha) Or The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Experience In Phlebotomy: A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Or Hospital Setting As A Phlebotomist Is Preferred. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Well-Versed In All Aspects Of Phlebotomy, From Patient Interaction To Proper Handling And Labeling Of Specimens.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Phlebotomist As They Will Be Required To Communicate With Other Healthcare Professionals And Accurately Label Specimens For Testing.
Understanding Of Infection Control: As Phlebotomists Work With Blood And Other Bodily Fluids, It Is Crucial For Them To Have A Strong Understanding Of Infection Control Protocols To Maintain A Safe And Sterile Environment For Both Patients And Staff.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Phlebotomist Should Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Doctors, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
