
Patient Support Technician, Emergency Department

- Provide compassionate and empathetic support to patients in the Emergency Department.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as toileting, bathing, and dressing.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the medical team.
- Help to keep patients comfortable and at ease during their stay in the emergency department.
- Assist with transporting patients to different areas of the hospital as needed.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the medical team.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide the best possible care for patients.
- Attend and actively participate in trainings and meetings to stay updated on best practices and procedures.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during difficult situations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the nursing staff or supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent. A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged Is Typically Required For A Patient Support Technician Role In The Emergency Department At Prisma Health.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification. As A Patient Support Technician, You May Be Required To Assist With Patient Care And Emergencies, So Having A Current Bls Certification Is Important.
Previous Healthcare Experience. While Not Always Required, Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Can Be Beneficial For A Patient Support Technician Role In The Emergency Department.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. As A Patient Support Technician, You Will Be Interacting With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis, So Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential.
Ability To Multitask And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment. The Emergency Department At Prisma Health Can Be A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment, So It Is Important For A Patient Support Technician To Be Able To Handle Multiple Tasks And Work Efficiently Under Pressure.
