  1. Provide compassionate and empathetic support to patients in the Emergency Department.
  2. Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as toileting, bathing, and dressing.
  3. Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the medical team.
  4. Help to keep patients comfortable and at ease during their stay in the emergency department.
  5. Assist with transporting patients to different areas of the hospital as needed.
  6. Ensure the cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and equipment.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the medical team.
  8. Follow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide the best possible care for patients.
  10. Attend and actively participate in trainings and meetings to stay updated on best practices and procedures.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  12. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  13. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during difficult situations.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned by the nursing staff or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent. A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged Is Typically Required For A Patient Support Technician Role In The Emergency Department At Prisma Health.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification. As A Patient Support Technician, You May Be Required To Assist With Patient Care And Emergencies, So Having A Current Bls Certification Is Important.

  • Previous Healthcare Experience. While Not Always Required, Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Can Be Beneficial For A Patient Support Technician Role In The Emergency Department.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. As A Patient Support Technician, You Will Be Interacting With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis, So Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential.

  • Ability To Multitask And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment. The Emergency Department At Prisma Health Can Be A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment, So It Is Important For A Patient Support Technician To Be Able To Handle Multiple Tasks And Work Efficiently Under Pressure.
