As a Patient Observer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients who require close monitoring.   1. Monitor patients closely to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  2. Observe and document patient behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  3. Assist patients with daily activities and provide emotional support as needed.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members.
  5. Remain calm and composed in potentially stressful situations.
  6. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  7. Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  9. Attend trainings and educational sessions to improve knowledge and skills related to behavioral health.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, ensuring a positive experience at Prisma Health.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification In Crisis Intervention: A Patient Observer At Prisma Health Must Possess A Certification In Crisis Intervention, As They Will Be Working Closely With Patients Who May Exhibit Challenging Behaviors.

  • Experience In Behavioral Health: Candidates For This Role Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Behavioral Health Setting, Such As A Psychiatric Hospital Or Mental Health Clinic. This Experience Will Provide Them With The Necessary Skills To Handle Challenging Situations And Understand The Needs Of Patients With Behavioral Health Issues.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: A Patient Observer Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And The Healthcare Team. This Includes The Ability To De-Escalate Tense Situations And Communicate Effectively With Patients Who May Have Difficulty Expressing Themselves.

  • Strong Observation And Documentation Skills: The Role Of A Patient Observer Requires Constant Observation And Documentation Of Patient Behavior. Therefore, Candidates Must Have Strong Observational Skills And Be Able To Accurately And Objectively Document Patient Behavior.

  • Empathy And Compassion: Working With Patients In A Behavioral Health Setting Requires A High Level Of Empathy And Compassion. A Patient Observer Must Be Able To Provide Emotional Support And Show Genuine Care For Patients Who May Be Going Through A Difficult Time.
