As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care by accurately collecting and verifying patient information, scheduling appointments, and coordinating insurance coverage.   1. Greet and welcome patients and their families in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Collect and accurately record patient demographic and insurance information.
  3. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
  4. Schedule appointments and coordinate with various departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
  5. Educate patients on their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities.
  6. Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from patients and their families.
  7. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  8. Collaborate with healthcare providers and clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate patient care.
  9. Resolve any issues or concerns related to patient access and registration.
  10. Stay updated on insurance policies and procedures to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  11. Assist with training and mentoring new Patient Access Specialists.
  12. Provide excellent customer service and address any patient concerns or complaints.
  13. Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
  14. Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and procedures related to patient access.
  15. Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment.
  16. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Front-Line Representative Of Prisma Health, A Patient Access Specialist Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals.

  • Attention To Detail And Ability To Multitask: This Position Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail And The Ability To Multitask.
