- Greet patients with a warm and friendly demeanor, ensuring they feel welcomed and comfortable in our healthcare facility
- Assist the orthopedic spine specialists in providing exceptional patient care, including taking vitals, obtaining medical history, and preparing patients for examinations
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times
- Schedule appointments and manage the physician's calendar to ensure efficient and timely patient care
- Prepare and sterilize medical equipment and exam rooms for procedures and examinations
- Educate patients on orthopedic spine procedures, treatments, and follow-up care instructions
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
- Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and completing insurance forms
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in orthopedic spine care to continuously improve patient care
- Uphold and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and organizational policies and procedures.
Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: Candidates For A Medical Assistant, Orthopedic Spine Position At Prisma Health Should Have A Certificate Or Diploma From An Accredited Medical Assistant Program. This Ensures That They Have Received Proper Training In Medical Terminology, Patient Care, And Other Essential Skills.
Knowledge Of Orthopedic Spine Procedures And Treatments: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Common Orthopedic Spine Procedures And Treatments, Such As Spinal Fusion, Laminectomy, And Disc Replacement. This Knowledge Will Enable Them To Assist The Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Effectively And Provide Quality Patient Care.
Experience In A Clinical Setting: Prisma Health Is Looking For Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In An Orthopedic Or Spine Specialty. This Experience Will Demonstrate Their Familiarity With Medical Procedures, Equipment, And Patient Care Protocols.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Medical Assistants At Prisma Health Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Interact With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Be Able To Explain Procedures, Calm Nervous Patients, And Collaborate Effectively With The Rest Of The Healthcare Team.
Certification As A Medical Assistant: While Not Always Required, Prisma Health Prefers Candidates Who Are Certified As Medical Assistants.
