- Provide emotional and psychosocial support to pediatric patients and their families during hospitalization, illness, and medical procedures.
- Utilize knowledge of child development, psychology, and family dynamics to create and implement developmentally appropriate interventions and activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized plans of care for pediatric patients.
- Educate and prepare patients and families for medical procedures using age-appropriate and therapeutic techniques.
- Serve as an advocate for pediatric patients and their families, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
- Document patient interactions and progress in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources to provide additional support and resources for patients and families.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings to provide input and recommendations for patient care.
- Maintain a safe, child-friendly, and developmentally appropriate environment for patients and families.
- Stay updated on current research and best practices in child life and incorporate them into practice.
- Provide support and guidance to families during end-of-life care and bereavement.
- Collaborate with child life interns and volunteers to provide training and supervision.
- Participate in hospital-wide initiatives and programs to promote the well-being of pediatric patients and families.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the Child Life Council and Prisma Health.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the child life program to meet the changing needs of patients and families.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting.
Knowledge Of Child Development, Coping Mechanisms, And Therapeutic Play Techniques.
Ability To Work Collaboratively With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Healthcare Teams.
