Job Description

  1. Provide emotional support and coping strategies for children and their families during times of illness, injury, or hospitalization.
  2. Utilize a strong understanding of child development to create developmentally appropriate interventions and activities for patients.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to address the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients.
  4. Assess the individual needs of each patient and create a personalized care plan to support their emotional well-being.
  5. Plan and facilitate therapeutic and recreational activities to promote positive coping and reduce anxiety and stress for children and families.
  6. Educate and support families on how to best support their child's emotional needs during hospitalization.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and document interventions and outcomes.
  8. Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to provide additional support and resources for patients and families.
  9. Stay informed on the latest research and best practices in child life and utilize this knowledge to enhance patient care.
  10. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provide insight on the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients.
  11. Serve as an advocate for children and their families, ensuring their needs are met throughout their healthcare journey.
  12. Foster a positive and healing environment for pediatric patients and their families.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients and families.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve child life programs and services to meet the changing needs of patients and families.
  15. Act as a resource and mentor for other healthcare professionals, students, and volunteers on child life practices and interventions.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Children In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Child Development, Family Systems, And Coping Techniques For Children In Healthcare Settings.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Support To Patients And Families.
