Job Description

As a Patient Observer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients by closely monitoring and documenting their behavior.   1. Monitor and document the behavior of patients with mental health and behavioral issues.
  2. Ensure the safety and well-being of patients at all times.
  3. Remain calm and composed in potentially challenging situations.
  4. Work closely with healthcare professionals to provide support and assistance to patients.
  5. Establish a trusting and compassionate relationship with patients to promote a positive and healing environment.
  6. Follow all protocols and procedures for patient observation, including reporting any concerns or changes in behavior to the appropriate staff.
  7. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient behavior and interactions.
  8. Foster a supportive and non-judgmental environment for patients.
  9. Demonstrate a strong understanding of mental health and behavioral issues.
  10. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  11. Attend trainings and meetings to stay updated on best practices in behavioral health care.
  12. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
  13. Serve as a role model for patients by displaying empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  14. Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
  15. Utilize de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when necessary.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Behavioral Health - Patient Observer Job At Prisma Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.

  • Previous Experience In Mental Health Field: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Mental Health Setting, Such As A Psychiatric Hospital Or Behavioral Health Facility, Will Be Preferred For This Role.

  • Knowledge Of Behavioral Health Conditions: A Thorough Understanding Of Various Behavioral Health Conditions, Including But Not Limited To Depression, Anxiety, And Bipolar Disorder, Is Essential For This Job.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Crucial For A Behavioral Health - Patient Observer As They Will Be Required To Communicate With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: Due To The Nature Of The Job, Candidates Must Possess Current Cpr And First Aid Certification Or Be Willing To Obtain It Within A Specified Timeframe After Being Hired.
