  1. Provide direct patient care in the recovery room/PACU department.
  2. Monitor and assess patients' post-operative status, including vital signs, pain, and overall recovery.
  3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  4. Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and provide discharge instructions.
  5. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  6. Ensure proper documentation of patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
  7. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide quality care and promote patient satisfaction.
  9. Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay updated on best practices and advancements in the field.
  10. Maintain knowledge of current policies, procedures, and regulations related to the recovery room/PACU department.
  11. Serve as a resource and mentor for nursing staff, students, and other healthcare professionals.
  12. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare facilities to coordinate seamless patient care.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Nursing License: A Registered Nurse Must Have A Current And Valid Nursing License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing. This Ensures That They Have Met The Necessary Requirements And Are Qualified To Work As A Nurse In The Recovery Room Or Pacu.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: Many Healthcare Facilities, Including Presbyterian Healthcare Services, Prefer Nurses With A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing. This Degree Provides A Thorough Understanding Of Nursing Theory And Practice, Which Is Essential For Working In A Recovery Room Or Pacu.

  • Experience In Critical Care: Recovery Room And Pacu Nurses Must Have Experience In Critical Care Settings, As They Will Be Responsible For Closely Monitoring Patients Who Have Just Undergone Surgery. Previous Experience In An Intensive Care Unit Or Emergency Room Can Also Be Beneficial.

  • Acls Certification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certification Is Often Required For Nurses Working In The Recovery Room Or Pacu. This Certification Ensures That A Nurse Is Equipped To Handle Emergency Situations And Administer Life-Saving Techniques If Necessary.

  • Attention To Detail: Recovery Room And Pacu Nurses Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Quickly Identify Any Changes In A Patient's Condition. They Must Also Be Organized And Able To Document Patient Information Accurately And Efficiently.
