  1. Act as a liaison between healthcare providers and patients by providing accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services in Spanish or Dine.
  2. Facilitate effective communication between healthcare providers and patients of diverse backgrounds by interpreting medical terminology and complex information.
  3. Demonstrate a deep understanding and knowledge of cultural nuances to ensure accurate interpretation and promote cultural competency.
  4. Adhere to strict standards of confidentiality and ethical practices while interpreting for patients and healthcare providers.
  5. Provide high-quality interpretation services in a timely manner, ensuring that all parties involved understand and are able to communicate effectively.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure accurate and consistent communication throughout the patient's care.
  7. Continuously update and expand medical terminology knowledge to ensure accurate interpretation of complex medical information.
  8. Advocate for patients' rights and needs by ensuring their voices are accurately represented through interpretation.
  9. Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance interpreting skills and stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
  10. Maintain accurate and detailed records of interpretation services provided for documentation and billing purposes.
  11. Demonstrate a compassionate and empathetic demeanor towards patients, creating a safe and trusting environment for effective communication.
  12. Contribute to the improvement of our interpretation services by providing feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement.
  13. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to patient care and confidentiality.
  14. Keep abreast of changing laws and regulations related to medical interpretation and communicate any changes to relevant team members.
  15. Collaborate with other interpreters and team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the interpretation department.

Job Qualifications
  • Fluent In Spanish And Dine: The Primary Qualification For A Medical Interpreter At Presbyterian Healthcare Services Is Fluency In Both Spanish And Dine, As These Are The Most Commonly Spoken Languages Among The Patient Population.

  • Excellent Interpersonal And Communication Skills: Medical Interpreters Must Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills And Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Both Patients And Healthcare Professionals. This Includes Being Able To Accurately Convey Medical Terminology And Sensitive Information.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Protocols Is Essential For A Medical Interpreter In Order To Accurately Interpret And Convey Information Between Healthcare Professionals And Patients.

  • Cultural Competency: As A Bridge Between Two Cultures, Medical Interpreters Must Be Culturally Competent And Sensitive To The Needs And Beliefs Of Both The Patient And The Healthcare Team. This Includes Understanding Cultural Differences In Healthcare Practices And Beliefs.

  • Professional Certification: Presbyterian Healthcare Services May Require Medical Interpreters To Hold A Professional Certification, Such As The National Board Of Certification For Medical Interpreters Or The Certification Commission For Healthcare Interpreters, To Ensure That They Meet The Highest Standards Of Competency And Professionalism In Their Role.
