Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Medical Assistant in our Radiation Oncology department at Presbyterian Healthcare Services. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide essential support to our team of radiation oncologists and help deliver quality care to patients undergoing radiation treatment. We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate individual with a certification in Medical Assisting and experience in a clinical setting.   1. Assist radiation oncologists in providing quality care to cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment.
  2. Perform routine procedures such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and collecting lab specimens.
  3. Maintain accurate and organized patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  4. Schedule appointments, coordinate treatments, and communicate with patients and their families.
  5. Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient procedures.
  6. Educate patients on treatment procedures, potential side effects, and self-care measures.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  8. Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or changes in condition and report to the physician.
  9. Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.
  10. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  11. Continuously update knowledge and skills through training and professional development opportunities.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  13. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during treatments.
  14. Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance information.
  15. Collaborate with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorization for treatments.
  16. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  17. Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
  18. Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice.
  19. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
  20. Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures to enhance patient experience and outcomes.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Credential Through A Nationally Recognized Organization, Such As The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama).

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Radiation Oncology Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of Radiation Safety Protocols And Procedures.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Anatomy And Physiology, And Electronic Health Records (Ehr) Systems.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Multitask And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment, While Maintaining Attention To Detail And Accuracy In All Tasks.
