  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and mission.
  2. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, effectively communicating its message to the media, stakeholders, and the public.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to ensure accurate and positive coverage of the organization's work.
  4. Lead and manage a team of communication professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  5. Work closely with other departments and senior leadership to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
  6. Monitor and analyze media coverage and public perception of the organization, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  7. Develop and manage crisis communication plans to effectively address any potential threats to the organization's reputation.
  8. Collaborate with external partners and organizations to amplify the organization's message and reach new audiences.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communication and incorporate them into the organization's strategy.
  10. Represent the organization at events, conferences, and other public engagements to promote its mission and values.
  11. Ensure all communication materials, including press releases, statements, and social media content, are accurate, compelling, and aligned with the organization's messaging.
  12. Uphold the organization's values and maintain high ethical standards in all communication efforts.
  13. Work with the development team to support fundraising and donor communication efforts.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve the organization's communication strategy and tactics to ensure maximum impact and effectiveness.

  • Crisis Management Experience: Planned Parenthood Is A Highly Visible And Often Controversial Organization, Making The Ability To Navigate And Manage Crisis Situations Critical For The Vice President Of Communications. The Candidate Should Have Experience In Crisis Communication And Be Able To Handle Potential Negative Press With Tact And Professionalism.

  • Media Relations Expertise: The Vice President Of Communications Will Be The Organization's Primary Spokesperson And Must Have Strong Media Relations Skills. This Includes Developing Relationships With Journalists, Pitching Stories, And Responding To Media Inquiries In A Timely And Effective Manner.

  • Knowledge Of Reproductive Health And Rights: As The Leading Provider Of Reproductive Healthcare Services In The United States, Planned Parenthood's Vice President Of Communications Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Reproductive Health And Rights Issues. This Includes Staying Current On Legislative And Political Developments And Being Able To Effectively Communicate These Complex Issues To A Diverse Audience.
