- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to support Planned Parenthood's federal advocacy efforts.
- Lead and manage a team of communications professionals to effectively execute communication plans.
- Monitor and analyze the political landscape to identify opportunities and potential challenges for advocacy communication efforts.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including policy and advocacy teams, to align messaging and ensure a coordinated approach to advocacy communications.
- Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and key influencers to amplify messaging and increase visibility for advocacy efforts.
- Create and distribute compelling and timely advocacy materials, including press releases, op-eds, talking points, and social media content.
- Serve as a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood on federal advocacy issues, including responding to media inquiries and participating in interviews and press conferences.
- Monitor and track media coverage and public perception of Planned Parenthood's federal advocacy efforts, providing regular updates and recommendations to leadership.
- Work with external partners and coalitions to coordinate joint advocacy communication efforts and amplify messaging.
- Stay informed on the latest trends and developments in the field of reproductive rights and healthcare to inform advocacy communication strategies.
- Manage the budget for federal advocacy communications, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
- Represent Planned Parenthood at relevant events and conferences to build relationships and increase visibility for federal advocacy efforts.
- Ensure all communication materials and messaging align with Planned Parenthood's mission and values.
- Provide regular reports and updates to leadership on the progress and impact of federal advocacy communication efforts.
- Uphold a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role and work to ensure that advocacy communication efforts are inclusive and representative of all communities.
Bachelor's Degree In Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Advocacy Communications Or Related Field.
Proven Track Record Of Creating And Executing Successful Communication Strategies In The Political Or Advocacy Realm.
Strong Understanding Of Federal Government Processes And Regulations Related To Healthcare And Reproductive Rights.
Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Issues To A Variety Of Audiences.
