We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Unit Secretary in the Orthopedics department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our unit by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.   1. Greet and welcome patients and their families to the Orthopedics department.
  2. Answer and direct phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  3. Schedule appointments and maintain appointment calendars for physicians and nurses.
  4. Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers with other departments.
  5. Maintain patient records and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  6. Enter patient information into electronic medical records system.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, as well as healthcare team members.
  8. Order and maintain supplies and equipment for the unit.
  9. Assist with ordering and organizing patient meals.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  11. Collaborate with other unit secretaries and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.
  12. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  13. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  14. Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  15. Perform other administrative and clerical tasks as assigned by the unit manager.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Unit Secretary In The Orthopedics Department At Orlando Health Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Related To Orthopedic Procedures And Conditions.

  • Clerical And Administrative Skills: This Position Requires Excellent Clerical And Administrative Skills, Including Proficiency In Computer Software Such As Microsoft Office, Data Entry, And Record Keeping.

  • Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting, Preferably In An Orthopedic Unit, Is Highly Desirable For This Role.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Unit Secretary Must Have Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals In A Fast-Paced Environment.

  • Attention To Detail: In A Healthcare Setting, Accuracy And Attention To Detail Are Critical. A Unit Secretary Should Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Multitask While Maintaining A High Level Of Accuracy In Their Work.
